Taxes, Taxes and More Taxes
Taxes are stressful enough but when you have five returns to fill out, that is a real headache. That is what many Americans had to endure. On the 2013 federal income tax return, any legally married same-sex couple could use either the “married filing jointly” or “married filing separately” status. However, depending on which state a couple lived in, they may have had to file separately at the state level or fill out extra forms. Not only does this take extra time and money but there is a possibility of a mistake being made which could lead to an audit.
