Happily Ever after?

Like many children, I was brought up on fairytales. I loved the idea of a prince and and princess riding off to the sunset to live happily ever after. But what happens next? In this day and age what does a "fairytale" look like? I am happy to say there are some new "fairytales" such as Hunger Games which give young women a strong female role model. Perhaps the heroine saves a young man rather than vice versa or maybe the heroine ends up very happy solo.
